(December 10, 2025) SMALT Lab is recognized by NIST for successful prediction in 2025 NIST AM Bench competition!

SMALT Lab successfully predicted 2025 NIST AM Bench experiment with high accuracy and as a result has been recognized by NIST as one of the two teams worldwide! NIST has included SMALT Lab members as "Honorable Mention" along with other collaborators from University of Dayton and Northwestern University.

(October 1, 2025) SMALT Lab is awarded $125k from National Science Foundation to study AM process defects using Eddy Current Sensor!

SMALT Lab is awarded $125k from National Science Foundation to study AM process defects using Eddy Current Sensor. This research will focus on fundamentally understand the variation in Eddy Current Signal due to different defect morphologies.

Dr. Amin presented the group's research at the 18th US National Conference on Computational Mechanics (USNCCM). From the group there are two contributions.

Husam Alboush joined the SMALT lab through the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program. He will be focusing on Eddy Current Sensor development for in-situ monitoring of metal AM process.

Rahul Singha Rathun joined the SMALT lab as a graduate student. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
